Dantek Seeks More Women to Join as Technicians, Risk Assessors and Trainees in Bristol and the West Midlands

Dantek is on a mission to encourage more women to join our Legionella Control Industry team as experienced technicians, Legionella risk assessors, and trainee water hygiene technicians in Bristol and the West Midlands. Holly, one of our team members, is passionate about promoting gender diversity in the industry, and we’re excited to share our current recruitment drive.

Experienced Technicians

We’re currently seeking experienced technicians to work on Legionella control solutions in Bristol and the West Midlands. We’re looking for candidates who have a strong technical background and experience in water treatment, plumbing, and water hygiene. We believe that women can bring a unique set of skills and perspectives to these roles, and we encourage them to apply.

Legionella Risk Assessors

We’re also recruiting Legionella risk assessors in Bristol and the West Midlands. We’re looking for candidates who have a strong technical background and experience in Legionella risk assessment and management. Women who have the necessary qualifications and experience are encouraged to apply for these roles.

Trainee Water Hygiene Technicians

We’re offering trainee water hygiene technician roles in Bristol and the West Midlands, which we believe is an excellent opportunity for women who are interested in entering the Legionella Control Industry but don’t have the necessary qualifications or experience. Trainees will receive training and mentorship to help them develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the industry.

Meet our team – Water hygiene technician, Luke

Luke joined Dantek as a trainee water hygiene technician in 2022. Having passed his level 1 training within 6 months of joining he has shown great technical ability and commitment to learning.

Let’s get to know him.
Tell us about your role at Dantek?
I am a field-based water hygiene technician, my day-to-day tasks consist of temperature monitoring,
completing tank cleaning, and disinfections, TMV servicing, closed system analysis, and showerhead
cleaning.
What 3 things do you enjoy most about what you do?
1. No two days/jobs are the same. I love the variation it brings.
2. The variety of tasks is fantastic. I can be temperature monitoring in the morning at a high street retail unit and completing closed system analysis at a formula 1 race track in the afternoon.
3. The constant learning opportunities that are given to me.
What do you enjoy the most about working at Dantek?
The people! The whole company consists of a great team who are passionate about what they do. We all strive to help each other and teach the wider community about legionella control and the industry as a whole.
Tell us about your proudest professional achievement.
I joined Dantek as a trainee water hygiene technician and recently passed my Level 1 training. Every member of the team helped me to achieve this from my engineer teammates to the management team.
What advice would you give to people looking to join Dantek?
Immerse yourself in it and learn as much as possible. Dont be afraid if the industry is new to you.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I’m passionate about all sport’s, Long dog walks and outdoor activities that help me to keep an active state of mind.

Curiosity! I am driven to learn the industry more and more every day.

Meet Our Team, Sales Executive Paige

of our amazing Sales Executives’ Paige.

Having joined Dantek in 2021. Paige has grown from strength to strength with her technical understanding and expertise in managing large contracts.

Let’s get to know her.

Tell us about your role at Dantek?

I’m part of the sales team and spend the majority of my time assisting new and existing customers by discussing their legionella control responsibilities and needs. From these initial conversations, I create contracts and provide quotes to help companies ensure that they are legionella compliant.

What 3 things do you enjoy most about what you do?

1. My role is varied, and I get to speak to a wide range of customers from different industries.
2. I enjoy learning about the industry, and it has made me more aware of water hygiene in my own day-to-day life.
3. Recently, I’ve got involved with national contracts which have been great to get stuck into. There are lots of moving parts and things to consider, but once completed and won it is really rewarding.

What do you enjoy the most about working at Dantek?

I joined the company not knowing a single thing about legionella, water hygiene, or treatment. Everyone has taken the time and given me encouragement to the point where I feel confident advising our customers. No question is a silly question here! The company is flexible and extremely caring towards its employees, and I feel appreciated.

Tell us about your proudest professional achievement.

I have managed to hit some of my targets with 5 months still remaining of the financial year which I am so pleased about. It has encouraged me to go above and beyond and given me the motivation to push my targets even further.

What advice would you give to people looking to join Dantek?

Don’t let the technical side of this industry scare you. If you have the willingness to learn, Dantek will support and encourage you to develop your knowledge.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I spend the majority of my time outside of work with friends and family, whether that is going out for a few drinks on Saturday night or a nice long walk on Sunday afternoon. I love going on holiday (preferably somewhere hot!) exploring new cities and creating new memories.

Which of the Dantek core values resonates most with you and why?

Trust! I love the fact that Dantek put their trust in me and my knowledge to make decisions and manage my own workload. I don’t feel micromanaged and have the flexibility to work from home when I want.

Meet Our Team – Legionella Risk Assessor, Phil

Phil joined Dantek in 2006. He has worked his way through the company from a trainee water hygiene engineer to a lead consultant risk assessor.

Tell us about your role at Dantek?

I’m a legionella risk assessor and water hygiene technician. My role is varied which I love as one day I can be carrying out water hygiene tasks such as monitoring, and the next risk assessing industrial plant and cooling towers.

What 3 things do you enjoy most about what you do?

1. I really enjoy the travel side of my job. I’m not stuck in an office; I get to see the country and visit interesting sites and meet new people.

2. I love to learn new skills and improve my knowledge of the industry. Dantek provides a vast amount of training to all staff, and we always learn something new.

3. Building relationships with our customers can be great fun. Having worked at Dantek for so long, I look forward to revisiting my regular sites.

What do you enjoy the most about working at Dantek?

The people! The team is great, approachable, and full of knowledge. I’m a father of two young children, and the flexibility in the role is priceless. I am trusted in the work I do, and if I’m ever unsure about something, I never feel nervous about calling and asking another colleague or member of the management team for help.

Tell us about your proudest professional achievement.

Becoming a qualified legionella risk assessor. I started Dantek as a trainee water hygiene technician knowing nothing about the industry. I was originally working in a factory and needed a fresh challenge and change to my career path. Dantek made that happen.

What advice would you give to people looking to join Dantek?

Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself and try something new. Working outside your comfort zone can be scary, but if you are willing to learn, the team has your back and wants everyone to succeed.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Spending time with my two children, walking the dogs, going to the gym, and watching movies pretty much sums me up! Music is a massive part of my life (Again another great reason to work on the road! You get to listen to your own music all day)

Which of the Dantek core values resonates most with you and why?

Team Game! Everyone has each other’s back. This is a value that not only runs through Dantek but is one I also use in my personal life. We all need each other!

Water hygiene jobs at Dantek

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Water Hygiene Technician who is looking to progress within an expert team of water treatment professionals. We offer continued technical training, overtime and most importantly a good work-life balance.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years experience of in water tank and system cleaning and disinfection, temperature monitoring, showerhead cleaning, sampling, BS8558 flushing and water softener service.

In return, you will receive excellent training and the opportunity to develop your career with a company that values technical expertise and practical skills.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

· 2 years + experience in Water Hygiene / Legionella control industry

· In-depth understanding of the ACoP L8 and HSG274

· Enjoy physical work, lifting and carrying

· GCSE Maths and English grade C and above

· Excellent record keeping and attention to detail

· Full current UK driving Licence

· Based in or around Bristol

Day to day the role includes:

  • Coldwater storage tank cleaning and disinfection
  • Temperature Monitoring
  • Showerhead cleaning and disinfection
  • Tank inspections
  • Taking water samples
  • Calorifier inspections
  • TMV servicing
  • LTHW
  • BS8558 disinfection
  • Water softener service

It also includes the following more general tasks:

  • Preparing and completing job sheets and procedure logs
  • Being responsible for tools and equipment including PPE
  • Driving to customer sites (circa 25,000 business miles per annum)
  • Completing on-site logbooks
  • Maintaining a professional and tidy appearance, both personally and with equipment and van

Package

· Competitive salary depending on experience

· 28 days holiday per annum including bank holidays, accruing one extra day per year from date of second anniversary to a maximum of 33 days.

Hours – Monday to Friday 40 hours per week

Location – Working at our customer sites, we are looking for people who are flexible and adaptable as the location will change each day. There are also occasions when you will be required to stay away overnight for which overtime is paid.

You will be managed by our fantastic operations team based at our offices in Thornbury.

Dantek is a Thornbury based Water Treatment service company that has built up an enviable reputation since 2003.
Our aim is to ensure our customers comply with the ACOP L8 and HSG274 while managing the water on their sites in the most efficient, safe and cost-effective way possible to reduce the risk of legionella bacteria causing an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease.

What are Dantek looking forward to in 2018

 

With the New Year underway we are excited about the prospect of some changes at Dantek, focusing on 2 key areas; skills and productivity.

As with many service based companies our people are our business and we know that to achieve our high growth target we must invest in developing high level technical skills, engagement in work, retention and the recruitment of suitably skilled new starters.

Our top priority is focusing on ensuring our workforce have the skills, confidence and knowledge to perform to the best of their ability.  To improve on our already robust mentor training programme we intend to build a practical training hub at our HQ in Thornbury.  The hub will have live water systems set up to allow engineers to be trained practically in a realistic environment, this will include higher level training in chlorine dioxide units, chemical cleaning and water softener service to name a few.

Martin Kingdon Technical Director at Dantek commented “it will be great to have a bespoke training centre (which may be the first of its kind) especially for new starters to practice in a live setting without the worry and pressure of being on a customer site.”

By investing in training and improving skills throughout the company we are confident engagement will improve and as a result productivity.  We also know the importance of recognising and rewarding our employees who all play a vital role in ensuring customers receive the best possible service. As such this year will also see the introduction of a company wide incentive scheme to allow employees to benefit from the overall success of the company.

As with many SME’s we see the greatest challenge being the ability to continually future proof the company. As such, we will continue to invest heavily in technology for example; our cloud based temperature monitoring log book system which we include for free as part of our water hygiene contracts.
